These are reference photographs of surfaces and construction stages, not PaveLocal jobs.

We would rather say that plainly than do what most driveway sites do, which is run stock photography under a heading that implies it is their work. Every image here is licensed from Pexels and every photographer is credited on the credits page.

They are here because they are genuinely useful: a herringbone bond, a compactor on a sub-base and a failed edge tell you more about what you are buying than a photograph of a finished drive on a sunny day does.

PaveLocal has no completed jobs to photograph, so this section is empty rather than filled with somebody else's driveway. When there are jobs, each one goes here as three photographs: the drive before, the excavation and sub-base part way through, and the finished surface.

The middle photograph is the one worth looking at, on anyone's gallery. A company proud of what it puts underneath photographs it.

What to look for in any driveway gallery

A finished driveway photographed on a sunny day tells you nothing — every driveway looks good on day one, including the badly built ones. Three things are worth looking for instead.

  • Mid-build photographs

    The excavation and the sub-base going in. A company proud of what it puts underneath photographs it. A company that is not, does not.

  • The edges

    Look at where the paving meets a lawn or a border. A haunched concrete edge or a kerb line means it will hold. Blocks butted straight against soil mean it will creep.

  • Older work

    A gallery of jobs finished last month proves nothing about longevity. Ask for something three or more years old, ideally an address you can go and look at.
